Any GMail account holder can set up an account for Google groups. Using this service they can manage group creation and maintenance including configuration of delivery options, such as moderated or fully open, private to a selected mail list or open for public subscription. Multiple groups can be configured. This could be another reason for an organisation to have a corporate GMail account. eGroups can be set up without the need for a server or a subscription to online software. Google and Yahoo offer free services for managing eGroups. Other services exist which may be centralized around themes, such as DGroups which is focused on development issues. |
