Rural community resource centres collect, collate and distribute information, both in electronic and paper form for community use. They may only have a limited internet connection and rely on other mechanisms for acquiring their materials. Thematic materials can be made for distribution on CD or via other platforms. World Space can deliver electronic information through its satellite systems to digital radio receivers. These digital radios can be connected to a PC to store the digital files and made available to the community (http://www.worldspace.com/). The Worldspace system is not free for sender or receiver and a target market would need to be identified before considering the value of the system. It may be worth partnering with other organisations that use Worldspace sharing space and bandwidth. |
