Saving from Youtube

There is no save or save as feature on YouTube for saving a single video as a file. This function is very useful if the bandwidth of the end users prohibits reasonable viewing, or if the end user wishes to view the film again, distribute to those without internet connections, or use the film as a media training resource redistributed on CD.

There is a free utility available from http://www.dvdvideosoft.com/ which can be used to save videos from YouTube. From the same organisation at the above URL there is also a utility to extract the audio from a video and store it as an mp3 audio file. This is an option which complements distribution of audio documentaries as videos hosted on YouTube, providing a mechanism for the end users to extract the audio.
